Curse of the Empty Lord: Complete Guide to Ghostly Robes

Mar-11-2026 PST

The Old School RuneScape miniquest Curse of the Empty Lord is a short but rewarding activity that grants the full Ghostly Robes set. These robes provide strong Magic bonuses for their weight and are especially useful for early- to mid-game players. Preparing properly for the quest-such as gathering teleport items, food, and basic gear-can make the process much smoother, and some players choose to buy OSRS gold to quickly obtain the supplies they need from the Grand Exchange. This guide walks you through the requirements, preparation, and how to complete whichever sequence you’re assigned.

Requirements and Preparation

Before starting the miniquest, make sure you meet the basic requirements:

· Complete Desert Treasure I

· Complete The Restless Ghost

· 31 Prayer (43 Prayer recommended for protection prayers)

· Around 50 Combat level is suggested but not mandatory

Two essential quest items are required:

· Ring of Visibility – obtained during Desert Treasure I

· Ghostspeak Amulet – obtained during The Restless Ghost

If you’ve lost either item, they can be reclaimed. The Ring of Visibility can be retrieved from Rasolo near the Fishing Guild, while the Ghostspeak Amulet can be reclaimed from Father Urhney in Lumbridge Swamp.

Because the quest takes you deep into the Wilderness, bring only minimal gear. Recommended items include:

· 1–2 stamina potions

· Cheap armor (such as dragonhide)

· A few high-healing food items

· Teleport jewelry such as a Skills Necklace, Games Necklace, and Ring of Wealth

Avoid bringing valuable or difficult-to-replace items like Graceful gear. Turning off private chat and enabling PK skull prevention is also recommended for safety.

Starting the Miniquest

Begin the miniquest at Glarial's Tomb, located west of the Fishing Guild. You can teleport to the Fishing Guild with a Skills Necklace or to the Barbarian Outpost with a Games Necklace and run south.

Equip both the Ring of Visibility and the Ghostspeak Amulet. A Mysterious Ghost will appear wandering near the tomb. Speak to him and select “Tell me your story.” The ghost introduces himself as Valdez.

During the dialogue, Valdez will reference a location that determines your path. Each player is randomly assigned one of three sequences:

· Pirates and shipwrecks → Sequence 1

· A thief northeast → Sequence 2

· A thief southeast → Sequence 3

You’ll receive your first piece of the Ghostly set and can then prepare teleports and supplies for the sequence you’ve been assigned.

Sequence One Overview

Sequence One sends you into high-level Wilderness locations. Start by teleporting near the Frozen Waste Plateau, then travel to a shipwreck area to speak with another mysterious ghost and obtain Ghostly Gloves.

Next, head south to the Chaos Altar, a well-known PK hotspot. Speak to the ghost inside to receive Ghostly Boots.

After escaping below level 30 Wilderness, teleport to Draynor Village, bank any weapons, and travel to Entrana. Inside the chapel, another ghost awards Ghostly Robe Bottoms.

Continue by visiting the Wizard's Tower to obtain the Ghostly Hood, and finally return to the Wilderness to Rogue's Castle. Speaking with the final ghost grants the Ghostly Cloak and completes the miniquest.

Sequence Two Overview

Sequence Two is generally considered the easiest path.

First, teleport to the Bandit Camp using a Burning Amulet and trap the aggressive bandits in nearby ruins so you can safely talk to the ghost and obtain Ghostly Gloves.

Next, teleport to the Graveyard of Shadows to receive Ghostly Boots. Watch out for zombies that may interrupt dialogue.

Afterward, travel to Port Sarim via a Pest Control teleport. A nearby ghost rewards you with Ghostly Robe Bottoms.

Then teleport to the Edgeville Monastery for the Ghostly Hood. Finally, visit the Slayer Tower, where the last ghost grants the Ghostly Cloak, finishing the miniquest.

Sequence Three Overview

Sequence Three begins in Al Kharid. Travel through Shantay Pass and head to the Bandit Camp bar to locate the first ghost and receive Ghostly Gloves.

Next, teleport to the Lava Maze and navigate through webs to find another ghost that rewards Ghostly Boots.

Leave the Wilderness and travel to the Tree Gnome Stronghold for Ghostly Robe Bottoms, then head to the Falador Party Room to obtain the Ghostly Hood.

The final step takes place in the Edgeville Dungeon, where the last ghost grants the Ghostly Cloak and completes the miniquest.

Bonus Rewards

After completing the miniquest, you can visit the Varrock Museum and speak with Historian Minas. This grants 10 Kudos and an experience lamp worth 10,000 XP in any skill above level 50.

Completing the Curse of the Empty Lord is quick once you know your sequence. With careful preparation and awareness in the Wilderness, you’ll secure the full Ghostly Robes set and a useful XP reward in under an hour. If you’re short on supplies such as teleports, food, or basic gear, some players choose to look for cheap RS gold to quickly purchase the items they need and streamline their preparation before heading into the quest.
