New World: Aeternum Guide – The Ultimate Legendary Gear Farming Guide

Mar-04-2026 PST

If you're running through the endzone zones of Aeternum and see groups of players huddled together in specific spots, you might be wondering what they're up to. They aren't just hanging out; they are taking part in one of the best activities for gearing up: legendary gear farming. Of course, optimizing your build isn't just about farming—sometimes you need to buy New World Coins to secure that last piece of crafting material or missing perk from the Trading Post. This guide breaks down the top locations to farm for Best in Slot (BiS) gear so you can perfect your build and dominate the endgame content. We'll look at the results from spending 30 minutes at each of the current top farming spots, plus a 30-minute Elite Chest Run, to determine the best returns on your time.

Before You Start Farming

To get the most out of your farming session, keep these tips in mind:

· Maximize Your Luck: For these tests, I used my regular gear for accuracy. However, to maximize your own drops, you should consider using luck gear, eating luck food, equipping your faction PvP flag (if you have a large, flagged group), and getting music buffs.

· Flagging Caution: If you flag for PvP, only do so with a large group of flagged friends. Otherwise, you might get separated from the main PvE farm group and miss out on loot sacks.

· Loot Biasing: New World uses a loot biasing system. Make sure you are wearing the type of weapons and armor you want to drop. The results will show that your drops heavily favor what you have equipped.

· Chests: To keep these tests accurate, I did not open any chests in the farming areas. However, if you are farming here, always grab the chests! They provide additional loot, resources, and craft mods.

The Contenders: Top Gear Farming Spots

Here are the three current top gear-farming locations, plus the classic chest run for comparison.

Mercy's Reedout (Night Haven)

1. Location: Teleport to the Church of Memory shrine. Head slightly northwest to the small camp.

2. The Grind: This is a classic mob-grind spot. You'll likely find a large group of people here. Type "X" in area chat to join their group.

· You can either go AFK and return every few minutes to collect your loot sacks, or help the group by running around the camp and the entrances killing mobs.

3. Pro Tip: Using an Ice Gauntlet and placing an Ice Pylon in the middle of the camp is a great way to help the group passively.

4. 30-Minute Results: A solid 28 Legendary Pieces (0.93 per minute). A decent, low-effort farm.

Tower of the Sun (Night Haven)

1. Location: Teleport to the Grand Carnival Outpost. Run west to the large tower and go to the very top.

2. The Grind: At the top, you'll find two elite bosses: Memory of Heru and Memory of Au. They respawn incredibly fast after being killed.

· Join the group farming them via area chat. You can actively fight or go AFK and pop back in for bags.

· There are three elite chests just outside the boss room you can grab between kills.

3. Warning: Don't stand in the doorway when the boss resets, or you'll be flung off the tower!

4. 30-Minute Results: An impressive 111 Legendary Pieces (3.7 per minute). This is a fantastic spot for volume.

Pugnacius Perutu Platform (Isle of Zervan)

1. Location: Teleport to the Shrine of the Lion. Swim east across the water to the mountain.

2. If the portal is open, stand in it to be teleported up. If not, take the path up the mountain to the platform where Pugnacius Perutu spawns.

3. The Grind: You'll find a large group on this platform. Join up and fight the gorillas.

· They have displacement moves that can knock you off. If you fall, just head back up; you'll still get credit for kills and will have a stack of sacks waiting for you.

· Each time you kill Perutu, three more gorillas spawn. Kill them, then loot everything before the next wave.

4. Bonus: Two artifacts, Boltcaster and Lifetaker, are locked behind these gorillas, so you can farm for them while you're here.

5. 30-Minute Results: A whopping 125 Legendary Pieces (4.16 per minute). The winner for pure speed and volume of legendary drops.

4. The Control Group: Elite Chest Runs (World Tour)

· The Grind: Type "X chest run" or "X world tour" in the recruitment chat. Join a group and follow the zerg from chest to chest.

· 30-Minute Results: This method netted me 83 Legendary Pieces (2.7 per minute).

· While it had fewer legendary drops than the top two farm spots, I gained significantly more coins, resources, and Umbral Crystals than any other method. It's the best all-rounder for character wealth and materials.

The Winner and Why Location Matters

Here are the final numbers:

Farming Spot

Pieces Per Minute

Isle of Zervan (Gorillas)

4.16

Tower of the Sun (Bosses)

3.7

Elite Chest Run

Mercy's Reedout (Mob Camp)

0.93

Based purely on legendary items per minute, the Isle of Zervan gorilla platform is the winner. So, why would anyone go anywhere else? It comes down to Drop Tables. Every boss and mob in New World has a specific loot table. The best spot for you depends entirely on what you are looking for. Before you farm a spot, search for the specific mobs or bosses.

· For Mercy's Reedout, look up the mobs in that area.

· For Tower of the Sun, check the drop tables for the Memory of Heru and Memory of Au.

· For Isle of Zervan, look up Pugnacius Perutu, Anoyd Angosia, Agitated Arisa, and Iritable Ignia.

· Ensure the specific item or perk combination you want actually drops from that location. Each spot will remain popular as long as it drops unique or highly sought-after gear.

· A Note on Nerfs: The developers have stated they like this farming concept. However, if a spot becomes too popular and causes server instability, they may nerf it (like the old Spider farm).

How to Sort Through Your Mountain of Loot

After two hours of farming, I had 347 Legendary pieces. Here is my process for sorting through it all:

1. The Gem Socket Filter: Go through your haul and immediately get rid of anything without a gem socket. Currently, a gem socket is essential for every piece of gear. You can easily identify socketed items by the small circle on their icon.

2. Throw all socketed pieces into storage.

3. Salvage everything else.

4. Sort by Type: Once you have a good stack of socketed items, take them out and sort them by gear type (e.g., all Helmets together, all Chest pieces together).

5. The Perk Check: Go through each piece one by one.

6. Put any piece with a good or interesting perk combo to the side for a final comparison.

7. Salvage all the bad perk combos immediately.

8. If you have the storage space, you can hold onto "maybe" pieces for future builds.

9. Finalize Your Build: Compare the good pieces you've saved to determine the absolute best option for your build.

Final Thoughts

This method is a fantastic way to amass a huge amount of gear quickly. However, it's not the only way to play. You can get amazing gear from expeditions, PvP, catacombs, and artifact quests. If you're ever looking to skip the grind and jump straight into the action, you can find New World Gold for sale at MMOEXP, allowing you to grab those high-tier items or materials instantly. The beauty of New World: Aeternum is that you can play how you want. This guide is simply a tool if you choose to use it. The most important thing is to have fun out there. Until next time, have a good one!
